This app perfectly helps you figure out the right amount to add to your MetroCard in NYC. Its up-to-date, fast, and intuitive. The exact solution I was looking for. (Although it took me a second to figure out I should enter $0.00 to get the optimized amount for a new card.)

I tried unsuccessfully to build a simple utility like this in Excel, and anyway, who wants to get out a laptop by the ticket machine? This app is just what I needed, especially after the recent fare increase.

But I do have a suggestion. How about an input that allows for calculating the dollars needed for x number of rides. Say I want to load 10 rides. At 2.75 that equals 27.50. So how much should I load to get a card with a total of 27.50

If I have 2.50 on a card the app should offer me options to get an exact number of rides starting with "add 0.25 to have 2.75 = one ride." I dont always want to add a huge amount to an existing card.

A great tool for a very specific situation. I am able to pull this app up on my iPhone and get the answer I need without the line of people behind me even noticing a delay! Gets the right answer quickly and clearly. Nice job. Doesnt try to do too much.

Always improving. It works with the new fares (and says it will with the $2.75 one too), and all the other calculators dont so Im glad they updated it.

If you live in or frequent New York City you need this app. It works exactly as described and is elegant in its simplicity. I was using it through the latest MTA fare hike and the developers were sure to update it right away. You can trust this well supported app to be there when you need it.

This is not good, you should be able to type in the 8-10 digit number on the back of the card and let you know your balance!
